However, with the US going through a debt crisis of its own – with unforeseeable consequences on emerging markets – it may be time to rethink investment in Europe.

Premji Invest, the family office of one of India’s richest individuals, Azim Premji, is reportedly in discussions to lead a $50 million (€37 million) fundraiser in e-commerce fashion retailer Myntra.

The website, headquartered in Bangalore, was founded in 2007 and is now India’s largest online fashion and lifestyle store, with annual revenues of $120 million. It stocks Indian fashion brands, as well international household names, such as Nike, Reebok and Adidas.

A Swiss-domiciled single family office has appointed a London property investment manager to manage and acquire a portfolio of up to £100 million of residential real estate in the city.

A Swiss-domiciled single family office has appointed a London property investment manager to manage and acquire a portfolio of up to £100 million of residential real estate in the city.

Newcore Capital has been mandated to buy properties classified as houses in multiple occupation (HMO), which have typically been divided up into flats.

The real estate investment firm says it is their third single family office client, with the other two headquartered in the UK.

In partnership with American Coastal Properties the scheme will take dated homes in up-and-coming neighbourhoods in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles and spend 50 to 100% of the purchase price on renovations.

The family fortune may have been made by an inherently conservative investor with a flair for designing suitcases, but when it comes to investment strategy subsequent generations of the Koffler family have been determined not to carry any baggage.

Sol Koffler is a poster child for the American dream. Arriving in the US from eastern Europe in 1920 at the age of 13, he started selling $1 suitcases as the Great Depression reached its peak. Over the next 46 years he built American Tourister into the second largest luggage company in the country.
