CampdenFB, in association with Edhec Business School, has launched the CampdenFB–Edhec Scholarship Programme, an inaugural initiative that provides for up to 10 scholarships (valued at €15,000 each). 

The Edhec Business School in France has launched the first global executive-MBA (EMBA) programme in Europe aimed at those working in family businesses, providing a uniquely tailored course that is compatible with ongoing professional activity.

The school has also partnered with CampdenFB on a scholarship programme (valued at €15, 000 each) that will enable 10 candidates to participate in the nine-week executive MBA, spread over 15-months, providing they have four years of managerial experience in a family business.

A new family business programme launching in Montana this month has been prompted by a lack of support for family firms in the region, says the associate professor who will be leading the course.

Issues addressed in the University of Montana course, which begins this month, will include succession, leadership and governance.

According to course leader Michael Braun, a management and marketing professor, family firms represent 80% of all enterprises in the state.

Denise Kenyon-Rouvinez, an academic with 20 years experience in consulting and education with family businesses internationally, has taken the role. She was also the founder and president of the Suisse Romande Family Business Network chapter – set up for French speaking Swiss businesses.

A new family business centre has opened at Dublin City University in Ireland.

Prime Minister Enda Kenny officially opened the centre last week, at an event attended by representatives from several well-known Irish family businesses, including sixth-generation oats company Flahavan's, fifth-generation construction company John Sisk and Son and 75-year-old Butler's Chocolates.

The programme, which is open to non-students, covers management, finance and legal aspects specific to family-owned firms, and also includes an entrepreneurship elective.

Sports car manufacturer Porsche, controlled by the eponymous founding family, has announced it will sponsor a new family business post at German business school HHL Leipzig.

Dr Stephan Stubner will be the first person to hold the chair of strategic management and family business position – which Porsche has committed to sponsor for an initial period of five years.

The company said the aim of the post was to offer scientifically-founded solutions to the issues faced by entrepreneurs and family businesses.
